Abstract

Suicides and suicide attempts have a ripple effect that affects not only individuals, but also families, communities, and societies. Risk factors associated with suicide, such as job or financial loss, trauma or abuse, mental and substance use disorders, and barriers to accessing health care, have further amplified with the advent of epidemics and the image sold by social networks of perfect lives and effortless luxuries, added to the inability to manage frustration, an effect caused by overprotection and total complacency at an early age.
