Evidence-Based Medicine. Quality Appraisal of Clinical Practice Guidelines
Abstract
Using the AGREE II tool to assess the quality of clinical practice guidelines (CPG) is important to appraise their methodological rigour and transparency, as well as using it for their development. CPG’s appraisal involves 23 items within 6 domains, including: Scope and purpose; Stakeholder involvement; Rigour of development; Clarity of presentation; Applicability and Editorial independence. The objective of this article is to guide the reader in the appraisal of CPG by applying the AGREE II tool in two CPGs for the treatment of diabetes mellitus type 2, which are developed for primary healthcare.
